RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh-based interactive marketing agency The Department of Marketing reached its 15th anniversary this month — and the owners are celebrating with a beer.
The Department of Marketing, or The DofM, is based in downtown Raleigh and opened in September 2004. Then partners Oliver Spencer and George Wallace wanted to create a creative marketing agency that catered to start-ups, local businesses, and emerging growth companies.
“When we started, we saw a need for marketing and advertising for small and medium-sized businesses that didn’t have the bandwidth for an internal marketing team,” Wallace said. “Today, we help all different types and size businesses increase their digital footprint, grow their brands, and raise revenue. I am very proud of how we started and how we have grown and succeeded in the past 15 years. I look forward to seeing what the next 15 years hold for our team and our great clients.”
To celebrate, the owners partnered with a local brewery, Compass Rose, to create an exclusive anniversary beer that they’ll give away to select clients, colleagues, and friends. The DofM team took part in the brewing process from start to finish: deciding on a style of beer, what type of hops to use, and types of ingredients. They named it HopTart Anniversary Ale. The pair documented their fun on social media with photos and videos.
“Raleigh has such an incredible beer scene,” said Jennifer Suarez, who was named partner at the agency earlier this year. “We thought it would be a cool way to celebrate and collaborate with another local business. We look forward to lifting a glass this month, and to helping even more companies find their audience in the coming years.”
