Strategy is a set of actions designed with a goal in mind. When a team is down 6 points with three minutes left in the game, they plan a strategy to score a touchdown. For our clients, we adjust play by play, keeping the goal in mind to give them the best chance for that winning score.

When we set strategy with clients, we never take our eye off the ball. Usually that’s increased sales, greater market share, client awareness or business growth. Sometimes clients know exactly what they want and have a good sense of how to get there. Some don’t. We’ll help with that.

Effective strategies are agile, nimble and flexible. They change over time, according to competitive shifts and market conditions. The goals never change, but smart strategists shift their game plan – sometimes several times – to reach the results they want.

At DofM, we start the process with brainstorming. We help clients see approaches they may not have envisioned before. We narrow down our playbook to the smartest ideas available, considering budget, resources, practicality, timeliness and the market.

Almost without exception, some parts of the strategy outperform others. Where the strategy needs more muscle, we regroup with our clients and revise. As we get closer to the goal, we may adjust the strategy several more times, tightening our focus, incorporating what we’ve learned and strengthening our execution.

We expect shifts in the strategy from the outset, so we adjust quickly, efficiently and intelligently.  We don’t make the mistake of adhering to a plan because it’s approved.  We keep clients informed about progress and recommending changes as circumstances require.
